My name is Zachary Rumley, and I am 19 years old. I am currently a sophomore at Grace Bible College studying for a bachelor's degree in music. As a general consensus, I am a nerd, I love to play guitar, write music, play basketball, study biology, and eat food.
My passion for music began when I was 13 years old. I was given an electric guitar as a Christmas gift, and ever since then I haven't been able to put it down. Since then, I have learned how to play acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, banjo, ukulele, Appalachian dulcimer, cello, and the harmonica. At the age of 14 I began to lead worship at my local youth group. I also started a band called Highway 180 with a friend from that same youth group. We have since added tow more members to the band and released our first album. At the age of 15 I helped to lead a couple of chapels at my high school, both for the high school students, and for the elementary students. Later that year, I began taking a class in Leadership and Worship. At the age of 16 I began to lead worship at my local church playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, and keyboard on Sunday mornings. That same spring I started what is now called the Grace Bible Fellowship Youth Ministry Team at my church. It is a team made up of kids from my youth group, and we go to local nursing homes, senior living centers, and homes for the disabled to play music for them. I have now been leading that group for over a year. In the spring of 2015, a close friend of mine and I started the organization CCPW (Christ Centered Praise and Worship) to help other musicians and artist in writing songs, preparing for Sunday morning worship, and becoming better leaders. As of now, CCPW is still in development (yup...it's been two years), but more will be on the way soon. During the fall of 2016, at the age of 18, I interned at Grace Bible Fellowship at the Worship Ministries Intern. Though it was an unpaid internship, I learned a lot about leading worship. My passion is to lead worship in the church and work to glorify God. In the future, I hope to be able to work full-time in church ministry, while also maintaining a performing career in music. The biggest music passion for me is my part in the band Highway 180. I currently work as the guitar/bass/drum player, as well as the lead songwriter, and the producer. At the initial stages, I truly enjoy songwriting - it is just so exhilarating to put ideas to music and just pour my heart out. At the same time, being able to write parts for the guitar, bass, and drums can make things really fun and interesting, and gives me a greater understanding of the full scope of our music. At the end of every project, I do all of the mixing and mastering, as well as being the lead producer for the band. This means that I put the whole package together in CD form and create a distribution method for us to use. I really enjoy it and I hope that our listeners can get a glimpse of just how much love I have for what I do. However, music is not the only hobby I enjoy. I started getting involved in programming in the fall of 2014 as a junior in high school. Throughout my junior year I took the classes Introduction to Java Programming, 3 Dimensional Design (using Blender), App Creation (using Android Studio), and Advanced Java Programming via an independent study. During the year I was able to create many projects, as well as work independently with another teacher in the building to develop a mobile app for the school sports teams. I am currently working on my own Windows application projects, as well as working at CodeCave as an author on the Java blog page. I also contribute to CodeCave's YouTube channel by creating tutorial videos for beginner programmers. Another past time of mine is biology. Through high school I have been able to take Biology, AP Biology, and work on an independent research project. I am especially interested in cellular biology and cellular functions. You can view my tutorial videos for high school biology here, as well as some documents that I have been able to collect here. All of my research papers are open source, so I post my research papers and projects here on the site. I hope that this helps you to get to know me better, and hopefully this website is a good resource for you. If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to leave comments in my blogs or to contact me directly through the contact form. Thank you! |
